The dust jacket is rubbed at the edges has several short tears which a previous owner has repaired / reinforced to the underside with a scotch-type tape small chips to the edges front flap not price clipped white parts of the dust jacket are very greyed / discoloured. illustration occasional foxing spots to other prelims and to page margins though pages are mostly clean throughout no previous owner's names or inscriptions the binding is firm and inner hinges are very good. The boards are very lightly rubbed at the edges some foxing to the top closed textblock page edge, and very lightly to the other edges some foxing to frontis. Publisher's original deep burgundy red boards. A very good condition copy in a good condition dust jacket. Early copies of this title are particularly scarce as the illustration for the dust jacket and the frontispiece (same illustration) show the telescope the wrong way around.
